Language-learning apps

Language-learning tools have change tremendously over the years. In the early 2000s two popular tools for learning a foreign language included purchasing textbooks or audio and video courses. These days, as we all know, there is a mobile application for everything. The possibilities of becoming fluent in more than one language are endless with the variety of language learning apps such as, Duolingo, Memrise, and Babble. Every language-learning app is designed with features that distinguish them from one another. The lesson plans vary according to the app a person is using. Most apps include a series of reading, writing, and listening activities. Some also include speaking activities that test the learner’s pronunciation through voice recognition technology.

The creators of these apps have made it fun and convenient to learn a new language.  Anyone with a smartphone is able to access these apps for free. Who doesn’t like learning for free? There is no need to purchase another set of heavy textbooks whenever a person decides to learn a different language. In fact, one can be learning more than one language at a time. The language-learning applications allow the user to choose the languages they would like to learn from a list that include Spanish, Italian, French, and Portuguese, to name a few. Adding a live chat feature that allows learners to interact with one another would make these mobile applications more successful since they’d be acquiring firsthand experience.
